Multiplayer briefing

How ACE COMBAT ONLINE works.

It is a separate multiplayer career with its own aircraft, ranks, rewards and save data—not your campaign hangar carried online.

Last verified October 2, 2026.

Key distinction: campaign and online progression are separate. Aircraft available in both modes still have to be earned independently online.

What happens at the Air Base

The Air Base is a social lobby that can host up to 100 players. It includes a supply shop, military training, an arcade with classic Namco titles, a jukebox and the ACE Combat Store.

Your mercenary rank unlocks access to more aircraft. Aircraft gain levels through sorties, opening stat improvements and abilities. Appearance options include skins, emblems and weathering.

Threat Level in Co-Op Warfare

Destroying targets and scoring without being shot down raises your Threat Level. A higher level improves the points earned from kills, but also makes you worth more to the opposing team. Reaching three stars grants the “Ace” designation.

Aircraft roles

Fighter

Pressure enemy aces and focus on air-to-air control.

Attacker

Exploit battlefield targets and build score through strike work.

Multirole

Fill gaps in the squad and adapt to mixed objectives.

Electronic warfare

Support allies and disrupt the opposing side.

Ace Pass seasons

Online sorties earn Ace Pass experience. The free track unlocks rewards; the paid Premium track adds rewards including cosmetics and access to playable aircraft. Bandai Namco says seasons are scheduled to last two months, and seasonal Premium aircraft are planned for separate sale after their season.

Cross-play

Official launch material describes cross-play across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. The Steam listing also labels the game as cross-platform multiplayer.
